Emirati woman prepares 100 iftar meals for workers and needy families every day. Sheriff al-Hosani, 56, prepares 100 Iftar meals a day. The sheriff earns a modest salary of 3,000 dirhams a month. But no matter how difficult the monthly budget is, they try to prepare 100 iftar meals every day. The sheriff, who lives in Umm al-Quwain, has been running the charity for the past eight years. The sheriff and his family prepare this much food from their own home. Daughter Al Onood Khalifa and grandchildren Maha Jasim and Mohra Jasim are there to help.
The 56-year-old is still working to raise two daughters of a son who died in a car accident four years ago, when many of his peers retire. Sheriff al-Hosani said: “I’m doing this charity work for my late son. She also participated in the Iftar program started by the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation. The Foundation provided a small grant for the sheriff’s humanitarian work. That is how they were able to buy the equipment needed to prepare the food.
Once all the food was packed, al-Hosani and his daughter and granddaughter loaded the food into the vehicle themselves, delivering the parcels to the workers and needy families. “I am just happy to be able to do this with my family. This is a way to limit children’s mobile use and TV time. Instead, it will enable them to receive and practice the virtues of the holy month, ”said Sharifa al-Husseini.
