Volunteer Recruitment Manager Job in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Brief Description:

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) ensures that all preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cupβ„’ align with Qatar’s other development imperatives, as described in the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2011-2016.

Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy is responsible for the planning and delivery of the Host Country activities during the FWC2022; it was agreed that the Volunteer Program will be an integrated delivery between the Host Country and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 (Q22), whereas Q22 will lead and be the primary interlocutor with FIFA.

The Volunteer Recruitment Manager will be responsible on behalf of the Host Country for leading the planning and delivery of the Volunteer Programme in close cooperation and alignment with Q22.

The incumbent has three main elements of engagement:

  • Work in collaboration with Q22 on the integrated delivery of the FWC2022 Volunteer Programme, contribute to all elements from recruitment to the management of volunteers during the tournament
  • Coordination with any relevant Host Country Operations projects as per the agreed framework by the Planning and Integration team.

Key Responsibilities:

β€’ Collaborate and support Q22 on the development and implementation of the recruitment and selection of FWC2022 volunteers
β€’ Coordinate the call center and support services to FWC2022 Volunteers
β€’ Ensure integration with Host Country Operations central team and cooperation with HC projects as required and applicable for Q22/HC Volunteer program
β€’ Work closely with the Tournament Resources Services team to ensure a centralized approach to workforce services delivery (training, uniform, etc.)
β€’ May act as a liaison, representing the Host Country Operations side for the Integrated Volunteer program
β€’ Support the delivery of Workforce/Volunteer programs for all test events before the FIFA World Cup 2022
β€’ Lead discussion and oversee the system to support volunteer initiatives and recruitment for non-official FIFA test events
β€’ Contribute to the set-up and be the focal point from the Host Country representing Integrated Volunteer Programme on various governance forums – Volunteer Committee; Volunteer Working Group
β€’ Support and lead an organization when required of the establishment of various Volunteer related networking opportunities: conferences, forums, focus groups, cooperation with regional/global organizations
β€’ Establish a framework for monitoring information flow and managing expectations among various stakeholders
β€’ Adapt to the needs of the role as per the SC evolution
β€’ Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor directly related or relevant to the job

Job Requirements

Education and certifications
β€’ University degree in Project management, Event Management, Major Sports events, Human Resources, Psychology
β€’ Master’s Degree is an additional asset
Experience and skills
β€’ 15+ years of proven experience in managing teams and complex projects with a life-span more than 1 year
β€’ Experience in planning & delivery of major sports events in the role of project manager, planning team, workforce/volunteer management
β€’ Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams
β€’ Working experience in Qatar, the experience of working in the region, and knowledge of local culture is an advantage
β€’ Understanding of external government stakeholders expected to be involved in the Host Country Operations is a major asset
β€’ Understanding of operational planning and delivery experience in large scale international (sport) events is a benefit
β€’ Proven ability to manage clients and relations with multiple departments
β€’ Exceptional communication skills
β€’ Excellent analytical and people management skills
β€’ Ability to motivate others toward a common goal
β€’ Ability to understand the big picture and adapt accordingly
β€’ Ability to manage large and diverse teams through various phases of organizational change
β€’ Flexibility and strong commitment to work autonomously, focus on the result
β€’ Positive attitude, patience, and persistence
β€’ Strong IT skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
β€’ Fluency in English (the Arabic language is an advantage)
