Dubai: The Mohammed bin Rashid Library, located in Al Jaddaf near Dubai Creek, was opened to the public. It aims to open a new world of knowledge. The library will be available to the public from the 16th of the month. The patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
Book form; Largest in Middle East
According to the website for the project, the impressive building is shaped like a book on a wooden bookcase that was used to store the Qur’an. It is the region’s largest cultural center and library. This seven-story building contains more than one million books as well as more than six millions research papers. Conference venues and exhibition space are available in addition to the 10 main library collections. Sheikh Mohammed tweeted that nine libraries are included in the project’s one billion dirham.
Lighthouse of Knowledge
The library is also known as the “Lighthouse of Knowledge” and houses books for general reading, books about general knowledge, maps, media art, business, Emirates, periodicals, and special collections. Later, Sheikh Mohammed tweeted that a new cultural and intellectual building was being built for the next generation. We have gathered millions of books to help us grow our paths, unify our culture, roots, and identity, and make a better tomorrow. The wealth of knowledge
The Mohammed bin Rashid Library is a library that aims to connect people with a wide range of interests, particularly young people. It has both digitized and printed books. There are more than 1.1 million digital and printed books available in Arabic and other languages. More than 60 lakh essays; Around 73,000 music recordings; 75,000 videos. There are about 13,000 articles. The archive is also available for 325 years. It includes 35,000 digital and print newspapers from around the world, as well as over 500 rare collections.
MBRL app for access
The library is open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM. Admission is free. Access to the Mohammed bin Rashid Library app (MBRL), however, is required. Sunday will be a day off. Soon, there will be an option to register for annual membership. Solar energy accounts for about 10% of the library’s total use. The structure is designed to lower heat. It covers 5,81,903 square footage. The building has exterior lighting. The AC water will be used for irrigation of the plants surrounding the library.
