Qatar Chemical Company Ltd. (Q-Chem), is owned by Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding Company QSC (49%), Chevron Philips Chemical International Qatar Holdings LLC. (49%) and Qatar Petroleum, (QP), (2%). Qatar Petroleum (QP) is the majority owner of MPHC. Q-Chem is a world-class integrated Petrochemical Plant that produces high-density and moderate-density polyethylene, 1-hexene, and other products using state-of-the-art technology from Chevron Phillips Chemical.
Q-Chem, which was commercially operational in 2004, saw over $1bn invested in engineering, construction and commissioning. The Q-Chem complex is located in Mesaieed Industrial City and has a production capacity of 453,000 tonnes/year for PE and a 1-hexene unit that can produce 47,000 tonnes/year. A sulfur recovery plant and solidification facility are also available at the site.
