The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has announced that CBUAE will issue two new banknotes of five and ten dirhams in value. The new notes are made of polymer and have advanced technical features and security features. This decision reflects the central bank’s (CENTRAL BANK) goal of moving forward with the country’s development and vision over the next fifty years, especially in the economic sphere.
The Central Bank notes are issued by combining aesthetic characteristics with the latest technologies in design. The new note will also include a transparent window and fluorescent drawings featuring a portrait of the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Both banknotes feature inscriptions created using the latest Intaglio printing techniques and the logo of the UAE Nation brand.
Five dirham polymer banknote
The new five dirham banknote is designed in the same color as the current denomination note. Images of UAE national cultural symbols are included in the design. The image of the ‘Ajman Fortress’, an ancient monument that bears witness to the cultural and historical heritage of the UAE’s ancestors, appears on the front of the note, while the image of the ‘Dhaya Fort’, one of the prominent cultural landmarks of the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah, appears on the other side of the note.
The 10 dirham polymer
banknote retains the green color of the new 10 dirham banknote, similar to the current 10 dirham note. On its front is a portrait of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, an iconic landmark of religion, nationality and culture. On the other side of the center is a picture of the Khor Fakkan Amphitheater, one of the unique cultural landmarks of the Emirate of Sharjah.
