Abu Dhabi: The UAE has set a deadline for newborns to get an ID card. This is calculated from the date of birth. The validity of the sponsor visa will depend on the validity of the children’s card. It is available on the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security website and app. If you are more than 30 days late to apply for an ID card, you will be fined 20 dirhams each day. The maximum penalty for such a card is Dh1,000.

The application requires a copy of the child’s passport, a photocopy of the passport along with the sponsor’s visa page, e-dirham receipt and birth certificate. The main condition is that the sponsor’s visa must be valid. If there is a penalty for late taking the child’s card, it must be paid first. Once the application and fee are paid, other details will be communicated to the authorities via e-mail. If the online application is incomplete, it should be submitted within 30 days. Otherwise the application will be canceled.
