Hyderabad: A recent mistake made by an employee in Telangana has left the bank reeling. Mistakes can happen to anyone. Even small mistakes that occur during tasks that need to be done with precision, like a bank job, can turn into a big headache. An SBI employee made an accident while transferring funds. With this, Rs 1.5 crore was transferred to the accounts of 15 people. The money was to be disbursed under the Telangana government’s Dalit Bandhu scheme. Dalit Bandhu is a scheme that provides Rs 10 lakh each to Dalit families to start income generating projects. This is a 100 per cent subsidized grant.
The money was accidentally transferred to the accounts of 15 employees of Lotus Hospital. Rs 10 lakh each was credited to the account. The complaint was registered after the bank officials identified the mistake. The money was transferred from SBI’s Rangareddy Collectorate branch. He then contacted the hospital staff and asked them to return the money.
Of the 15 people who received the money, 14 returned the money. However, the money in Mahesh’s employee’s account could not be recovered. Because when he got Rs 10 lakh in his account, Mahesh thought it was a benefit from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plan. He withdrew a large sum of money and used it to pay off his debts. Despite repeated requests from the bank to return the money, he was unable to do so. The bank has lodged a complaint with the police against Mahesh. 6.7 lakh remaining in his account has been recovered. Bank officials are deliberating on how to recover the remaining Rs 3.3 lakh.
