Doha: The Al Ryan Bus Depot in Moussalat (Karwa), which is a public transport company, starts testing operations. Al Ryan is part of the Ministry of Transport’s Public Bus Infrastructure Program. These new depots are part the effort to convert curv buses into electric buses. The project’s objective is to provide safe and sustainable public transport services. All the necessary facilities, including a charging area, are available at the depots for electric buses. The New Industrial Area, Al Wakrah, and Lucille have the other bus depots.

In the third quarter this year, depots currently under construction will be open. There are accommodation facilities available for employees, as well as depot services. There are two main zones at the Al Ryan Depot: Working and Living. The working zone offers roof parking for 380 buses. The device comes with 190 charging devices. Two buses can be charged simultaneously using one charging device. A bus repair shop is available with the latest equipment and special units that allow you to monitor the performance of your buses every day.

The Living Zone offers accommodation for workers and depot staff. The Living Zone offers accommodation, entertainment and service for 1400 people. The government plans to convert 25% of the country’s public transport buses into electric buses by the end of 2012. The construction of electric charging stations is underway across the country as part of this plan.
