The Indian rupee had gained 19 paise to 76.45 against the US dollar (20.83 against the UAE dirham) in early trade on Tuesday. At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the rupee rose by 19 paise to 76.45 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange. The rupee had lost 22 paise to 76.64 against the dollar in early trade on Monday. The dollar, which measures the strength of the green bank against the six currencies, fell 0.21 percent to 101.54.

In the Indian equity market, the 30-share Sensex was up 706.63 points, or 1.25 per cent, at 57,286.52 points, while the broader NSE Nifty was up 206.65 points, or 1.22 per cent, at 17,160.60. Brent crude futures rose 1.33 percent to $ 103.68 a barrel on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
