Six buildings were damaged by the blast. The debris also caused damage to vehicles. The incident occurred near Khalidiya Mall Abu Dhabi at around 1 p.m. yesterday. Initial investigations revealed that the explosion was caused when cooking gas was being filled in a central gas system. Just after noon, the bomber hit a police station. Overcrowding in this area resulted in most of the victims being injured. Residents of four buildings nearby were evacuated as a precaution. Police stated that they would provide temporary accommodation while the buildings are secured. Traffic has been restricted to the area.
