Dubai: The e-commerce sector in the UAE is booming. In the first quarter of this year alone, 1605 e-commerce licenses were issued. These figures show that the e-commerce scene in the emirate is gaining strength. According to the Dubai Economy and Tourism Department, 18013 companies have been issued e-commerce trade licenses since its inception in 2017 until last March.
Of the licenses, 13671 are for professionals. 4342 in the commercial sector. As of March this year, 1334 were in the professional and 271 in the commercial sector. Startups and freelancers now have the opportunity to start an e-commerce business in Dubai. “This is a testament to the growing e-commerce scene in Dubai,” he said. E-commerce licenses include membership in the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, access to services from local banks, access to exports through the right to attend exhibitions and conferences, and exhibit venues. The e-commerce license can be obtained by registering at invest.dubai.ae . Authorities said the license could be issued within minutes of registration.
