The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has announced the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday for private schools in Dubai. Schools will be closed from Monday, May 2. The authority said on Twitter that students would receive a seven-day long leave and classes would resume from Monday, May 9th. This is according to government guidelines issued by Dubai private schools on Tuesday.

Eid al-Fitr marks the first day of Shawwal, the month following Ramadan in the Hijri calendar. According to astronomical estimates, Eid al-Fitr is expected to fall on May 2 this year. According to the UAE’s official holiday schedule, residents will have Eid al – Fitr from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3. The UAE Lunar Visitation Committee will meet to confirm the official start date of Eid.
