Dubai police say there have been 31 different road accidents during the Eid holiday season. Three people were killed and at least 30 were injured in what became known as the Cold War, police said. During the seven – day holiday from May 2 to 8, 31 accidents and 30 injuries were reported. Of these, 20 had minor injuries. Six of the injuries were minor.
Dubai police said they handled 128,775 phone calls during the festive season. Authorities handled 118,078 calls on the emergency hotline (999) and 10,697 calls on the non-emergency hotline (901). In addition to 1,276 e-mails and 1,730 life-chat calls to the call center (901), a number of people were investigated, said Col. Mohammed Abdullah Al Muhairi, acting director of the Dubai Police Command and Control Center.
Call 999 hotline number only for urgent matters. He also reminded the public to call the hotline number 901 for non-essential items. However, Dubai Saif Muhair al-Masroui, director of the Dubai Traffic Police, said that speeding, speeding and non-compliance with lane rules were the main causes of accidents.
