The Dubai-Al Ain road renovation, which was completed at a cost of Rs 200 crore in UAE, is now complete. The renovated road was inaugurated by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council), and then it was opened to the public. Matwar Al Thayer (Director General of RTA, Chairman of Board of Executive Directors) accompanied Sheikh Hamdan on the inaugural function.
Sheikh Hamdan posted on Twitter that he wants to make Dubai the most beautiful city in the world. The three-lane road running parallel to the road to Oman was upgraded through road improvements to become six lanes. Both lanes can carry up to 24,000 vehicles an hour. The travel time from Ras Al Khor Road intersection to Emirates Road is reduced to 16 minutes to 8. Road Transport Authority (RTA), stated that the project would also reduce the two-kilometer-long traffic jam. Six major interchanges are included in the project, along with 11.5 km of bridges or ramps.
