Doha: Qatar’s Olympic champion Mutas Issa Bershim won silver in the men’s high jump at the Doha Diamond League. Gold for Wu Sang-geko of South Korea. Bershim finished second in the high jump at 2.30m in the first round of the Athletics Diamond Series on Friday evening at the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium.
Sanggeko won the gold with a jump of 2.33 meters. Meanwhile, Gianmarco Timbery of Italy, who shared a gold medal with Bershim at the Tokyo Olympics, finished seventh with a height of 2.20 meters. The match between Bershim and Timbery was exciting but did not go as well as expected. In the men’s 400m hurdles, Alison dos Santos of Brazil won.
Qatar champion Abdurrahman Samba has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Anderson Peters came first in the javelin throw. In the men’s 1500m, Kenya’s Abel Kipzang won gold, Kenya’s Noah Kibet and USA’s Noah Liles won gold medals in the 200m and 200m respectively.
In the women’s shot put, Chase Eli of the United States, Jamaica’s Sheenika Ricketts of Triumph, France’s Nyonsaba of Burundi in the 3000m, Marylandi Paulino of Dominica in the 400m, Gabriela Thomas of the USA in the 200m and USA in the 100m hurdles. Sheikh Joan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, presented the medals to the winners.
