Air India Express Employee Arrested For Trying To Smuggle Gold Worth Rs 63 Lakh Inside Shoes

Air India Express crew members arrested for trying to smuggle Gold Navneet Sing, 28, from Azadpur (Delhi), was taken into custody by Air Customs Intelligence. He was trying to smuggle two packets of gold into a shoe that he was wearing, when he was stopped by Air Customs Intelligence. The pockets contained 1399 grams gold, worth Rs 63 lakh. He was an employee at the IX 356 Air India Express flight out of Dubai. He was captured during a tip-off search.

Yesterday, customs officers seized two and half kilos worth of gold from the Karipur Airport. Abdul Salam (41), was taken into custody from Koorachund Paruparambil in Kozhikode. He was able to recover gold worth Rs 1.5 crore. The gold was hidden in a capsule and wrapped in plastic bags. He then tied a belt around his waist. He managed to sneak in 2018 grams of gold around the waist and 774 grams hidden within his body. He flew from Bahrain to Karipur with Air India.
