Jeddah: Excavations by the Red Sea Development Company off the west coast Saudi Arabia’s have revealed fossils of an 80 million year old giant sea lizard. John Pagano CEO of Red Sea Development Company said that the site was Saudi Arabia’s first underwater archaeological site. According to him, the discovery suggests that there was life in the area many millions of years ago.

Pagano explained that his company’s collaboration with the Saudi Geological Survey was an extension of its unwavering commitment in finding and conserving natural treasures.

He mentioned Saudi Arabia’s increasing interest in paleontology. He said that new discoveries give hope for the search for ancient remains along the coast. The company has been working closely with the Saudi Geological Survey for the past 10 days on a project that is one of the most important surveys along the Red Sea coast.
