Kuwait City: After their visas expired, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Housing announced that 14,653 people have not fled the country. Authorities are taking strict action against the sponsors. Inspections to identify illegal occupants continue across the country.

Brigadier General Walid Al Tarawa was the Head of the Residence Affairs Sector of the Ministry of Interior and submitted details of visitors who didn’t leave the country after their visa expired. This was done at the request of Sheikh Ahmed Al Nawaf, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Interior. These figures represent the past three years.

14.653 visitor visas had expired, but they had not yet left the country as of May 20, 222. The ministry decided to pursue those who sponsored the visas. They will no longer be able sponsor any type or visa for the next two-years as a punitive action.
